Oh, FFS!

Daily Mail:
A teenage schoolgirl was arrested by police for racism after refusing to sit with a group of Asian students because some of them did not speak English.

Codie Stott's family claim she was forced to spend three-and-a-half hours in a police cell after she was reported by her teachers...

According to Codie, the five - four boys and a girl - then began talking in a language she didn't understand, thought to be Urdu, so she went to speak to the teacher.

"I said 'I'm not being funny, but can I change groups because I can't understand them?' But she started shouting and screaming, saying 'It's racist, you're going to get done by the police'."

BBC News:
A poster linking eating meat with child abuse has been unveiled by an animal rights group in a County Durham town named as a national obesity blackspot.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) says Easington was targeted because of an obesity rate of 22% above the national average.

It claims feeding meat to children is tantamount to child abuse as it is linked with life-threatening diseases.
Update. The Sun:
A MUSLIM teacher claims she was forced out of her job for not removing her veil in class.

Pupils said they found English lessons hard to understand because they could not see Aishah Azmi’s lips moving.

Bosses at Headfield Church of England Junior School in Dewsbury, West Yorks, agreed Azmi, 24, could wear the veil around the school, but not while teaching.

But furious Ms Azmi refused to take it off. She claimed her veil was cultural, and was then suspended.

Last night a local authority source said: “How can you teach English to young kids with your face covered?”

The Muslim Council of Britain said Islamic women did not need to wear a veil in the presence of young children.
Nobody needs to wear a veil. As Rod Liddle says in this week's Spectator, if a non-Muslim woman demanded to cover herself from head to toe because she feared the predatory attentions of men she'd be sent to a psychiatrist.

I think we should be putting scare quotes around the word "teachers".

It's amazing that despite (or perhaps because of) the best efforts of my "teachers" at school to slag off economic freedom (perhaps through guilt as most UK teachers are funded by extortion) I've ended up so against the politics of jealousy, state slavery and group-think that is the left.

Have you seen the BBC "reporting" of the 14 year old girl incident?

Truly pathetic.

Hmmm.. Meanwhile:

"Last night a local authority source said: “How can you teach English to young kids with your face covered?”"

Probably the same way a kid of 14 who speaks only English can somehow magically manage to communicate with non-English speaking kids?

This is the sort of tangled web of contradictions you run in to when PC & multiculturalism are allowed to run wild. Common sense goes out the window!

And:

""I said 'I'm not being funny, but can I change groups because I can't understand them?' But she started shouting and screaming, saying 'It's racist, you're going to get done by the police'.""

I expect these aren't her exact words (probably those of the copywriter at the paper) but anyone else look at that extract & wonder which is the kid, and which the supposed adult, in the conversation.....?

hang on a minute - that Daily Mail story sounds, even to my ears, to be over the top, and possibly inaccurate. look at the last sentence: "Greater Manchester Police denied Codie had been kept in a cell but would not comment further."

is there any way we can corroborate the story?

Wot Juliam said.

Plus, it's a shame that the girl felt she had to preface her very reasonable request to sit with pupils who speak the language of the country with, "I'm not being funny, but ...". Already apologising for making a perfectly rational request she is legally entitled to make.

Second, the "teacher", with the arrogance they have been taught by blair, the slithy toves in the Cabinet and the multiculti-pushers, reacted thusly: "But furious Ms Azmi refused to take it off. She claimed her veil was cultural."

Yes. We know it's cultural. Primitive tribes employ this mode of dress. Female genital mutilation is also "cultural". So are "honour killings". So is marrying first cousins for generations and producing the largest number of birth defects in Britain (30% of all birth defects are Pakistani). One man having multiple wives is cultural. Having their wives, dressed as ambulatory black tents, walk behind them is cultural. Not allowing a woman to leave the house unless accompanied by a male, even a little boy, is cultural.

She should understand that this "culture" is inferior and we don't want it in Britain.

Love the Ron Liddle quote.

How can we get her email address or the email address of the school. Anyone know?

Copy of the custody record, obtained under FOIA? Or as a juvenile, would this not be allowed/maintained....?

Though why you'd give such an outrageous story to the press knowing the usual suspects would discredit it by all means possible if it could be discredited, I don't know.....

But why sceptical of it, archduke? It's not like there aren't plenty of other stories of the police overstepping the bounds of their authority, particularly when they are concerned to 'do the right thing' on PC grounds.

"The Muslim Council of Britain said Islamic women did not need to wear a veil in the presence of young children." They just never can clam up, can they?

And no, women do not need to wear the veil in the presence of young children, older children, teenagers or adult men. Women are 50% of the human race. The muslim Council, staffed by misogynists (especially the fragrant Inyat), needs to be hauled up for sexual discrimination.

No. PC bullshit like this aids the BNP. It's more proof that they are right.

well, it's more to do with the weirdness of a police officer arresting a schoolkid on the property of a school, for what is basicially a minor infraction that could be handled by either a teacher or the headmaster.

it's just such an odd & unbelievable story.

and yeah - i'm aware of the P.C. police - gay horses and fuck blair t-shirts and all that.

but if this story IS true, then it raises an incredible question - as a parent, the last thing you would expect is for your youngster to be ARRESTED at school. Think of the implications of that. In the past , you would have gotten a stern letter from the headmaster - not a police caution!

Anonymous verity said...

Archduke writes: "for what is basicially a minor infraction".

Hello? Asking to learn with other pupils who speak the language of the country rather than those who speak urdu is "a minor infraction"?

Why? How?

This girl made a sensible request, as she wants to learn, and she even had the nous to put it diplomatically. In what way is this an infraction, minor or otherwise?

How can we get the head's email address and do the same thing to them that we did to Nottingham Council about the plans for mecca-facing graves. We can get the Americans to join in. And the Aussies.

BTW, it was the blogosphere that canned St Paul/Minneapolis's plan to allow muslim airport cabbies who didn't want to transport passengers carrying liquor to have a different coloured light on their cabs.

The Anglosphere blogosphere weighed in and the city government admitted that they were backing down because of the overwhelming negative response from all over the world.

How can we get this head's email address?

DFH - would you be a decent chap and follow this one up, if you wouldnt mind? This really could turn into an enormous story. the implications of it are staggering.

verity -> i said "minor infraction" because she was refusing to obey a teacher's orders. school discipline and all that. doesnt matter if the teacher is an idiot - but kids do need to follow orders at school. thats all.

Yes, but though the 'Daily Mail' has got things wrong in the past (what peper hasn't..?) it isn't the 'Sunday Sport' is it. Would they really print an equivalent to 'London Bus found on Moon!' if they weren't sure of their facts? After all, it can easily be disproved if it isn't true.

Good to see blogs picking this up - the more publicity the better. One way or the other.

And I'll take issue with 'i said "minor infraction" because she was refusing to obey a teacher's orders. school discipline and all that. doesnt matter if the teacher is an idiot - but kids do need to follow orders at school. thats all.'

If the purpose of the lesson was to communicate in the group, then putting her with people who do not speak her language, and who's languuage she herself does not speak, was not just the action of an 'idiot', but the action of someone not fit to teach.....

Oh, and your query: "that Daily Mail story sounds, even to my ears, to be over the top, and possibly inaccurate. look at the last sentence: "Greater Manchester Police denied Codie had been kept in a cell but would not comment further."" can be probably explained by this:

"Police said she was arrested on suspicion of a Section 5 racial public order offence after the incident which happened on 22 September. The 14-year-old was questioned in a juvenile unit before being released without charge. "

See - no cell. Just a 'juvenile unit', so the first report is factually correct, while giving totally the wrong impression. When dealing with statements from PR mouthpieces for government and company officials, the devil is always in the details :)

Good work, Juliam! Now we need an email address for the school head.

I suppose an email address this this Azmi troublemaker is too much to ask for ... But if we can get the address of the headmaster/mistress, I feel certain Charles will post it on LGF. We can also send it to a couple of Aussie blogs.

It was the power of the internet that got Nottingham Council to do an about face - and very smartly at that. It only took a day. And the Minneapolis/St Paul council re taxi drivers.

Arresting a schoolgirl for thought crime. This is the mentality that herded Jewish children on to the death trains. I've forwarded the story to Fox news here in the US in the hope they'll carry it.

This morning I took my grandson to his soccer game. No coach showed up, ill with something, but... a nice man took his place, my grandson came over to me looking all bewilderd, "Gran, he dos'nt speak a word of English, do you speak Spanish?" well.. this coach did a fine job and moved their little butts. but here in America, it look like I will have to learn the language, thanks to George Bush.

anonymous 10:34 pm - how totally irrelevant to the topic.

Who cares?

Are the Mexicans threatening to chop your heads off unless you convert to Christianity? Do they have women walking around in anonymous black ambulatory tents? Do they bomb public transport systems?

Are you sure you'll have to learn to speak Spanish? What proof do you have?

Do you think you have illuminated the discussion of aggressive islam in the advanced West with a little vignette about your grandson?

BTW - "soccer" is not the correct word. We call football "football". We invented it, so it's our word, and we have had it for around 150 years. What you play is "American football" which has more in common with rugby than genuine football. Rugby is also our word. Something to tell your grandson.

Er, no Verity, actually it is, on some level, the same argument, about refusal by an immigrant group to adapt to the norms, customs & spoken language of the host country, even if it may be to their economic detriment.

This is not a practice solely confined to Muslim immigrants....

And soccer is played in the States, often by younger children (and girls too) so why assume the lady was mistaken in what she was saying..? Is it possible that she does know the difference & meant soccer, not American football?

Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions. As I've pointed out before, it makes you look a complete arse & you'll find others dismiss your comments accordingly.

Thanks Juliam, thats exactly the point I was trying to make;why assimilate to your new country, after all I am expected to accommodate their needs, however I will say this, we have had Mexican grooms on our farms for years and they all make an effort to speak English. I do know the difference, and it is called soccer. American football is the pads and the 300lb linebackers, For Miss Bossy Knickers I will inform her I was born and raised in Yorkshire. Verity sounds like a real horses arse.
