Jameah Islameah

Further to last night's arrests at the Chinese restaurant in London, police are now searching the Jameah Islameah School near Crowborough.

Here's a mishmash of background info and links from the net.

The last Ofsted report (official school inspection) from December 2005 (pdf) said there were just 9 pupils aged 12-15 at the school. Seems like a bit of an extravagent set-up for 9 kids, wouldn't you say?

From the report:
Jameah Islameah School does not provide a satisfactory education for its pupils. It has not made sufficient progress towards fulfilling its aims since it was established. It does not provide an adequate preparation and strong foundation for the next stage of the pupils’ education. The school has improved in some respects but not sufficiently to have a positive impact on pupils’ achievement. It still has a significant number of major weaknesses. The curriculum is not broad and balanced. Although there has been some improvement in teaching, the quality of teaching remains unsatisfactory and prevents pupils making the progress of which they are capable. Provision for pupils’ spiritual and moral development is good but there are insufficient opportunities to promote their social and cultural development.
And to think the government is encouraging segregationist faith schools of this sort. Madness.

Confusingly, the school's website says it "only admit students aged between 16-65" and there's an emphasis on "teacher training" for groups having difficulty locating "suitable teachers".

The Imperial College of London Islamic Society held a teddy bears' picnic there last November.

The Sydney Morning Herald's Garry Barker was staying near the 'school' just after the 7/7 bombings:
Along the quiet country lane leading from the house where I am staying in Sussex there is a sign on a building that used to house the Legat School of Ballet. It is now a Muslim community, performing what service nobody in the district seems to know. Maybe a school, maybe a way station for immigrants. The residents, obvious in their robes and skull caps were often seen at the railway station in Tunbridge Wells and driving around in mini buses, but none has been sighted since the bombings. The sign at their gate reads: Jameah Islameah – an unfortunate name to the mind of an Australian remembering Bali.
The sign has been knocked over a couple of times, and each time propped up again – maybe a sign there is defiance on both sides of this unhappy situation.
And it seems the locals cared more about the state of repair of this impressive property than did the owners, if these minutes (pdf) from a Wealden District Council planning committee meeting in October 2003 are anything to go by:
An update was asked for concerning Jameah, Catts Hill, Mark Cross a centre for Islamic study. Residents of Mark Cross are concerned that the building, which is listed, is falling into disrepair. It was asked if the District Council had a legal responsibility to ensure this building is kept in repair. This Council has no legal responsibility for such repairs but can serve a repairs notice requiring the work to be done. If the work is not carried out then they could employ contractors to do the work and then bill the owners.
I don't know if the repairs were carried out on the building, but a tree in the grounds definitely received some attention.

This is the Allah tree (apparently it looks a bit like "Allah" in Arabic - if you ignore half of the branches, that is) but even here all is not what it seems:
"Today, the tree is supported by planks of wood as it fell down a few years back due to very strong winds."

A hundred years ago the property was a convent. I bet the locals had nothing to fear from the occupants in those days.

Update 8pm. More of an aside really. Here's a planning application (pdf) from last year:

Jameah Islamiah Trust,
43 Anderson House,
Fountain Road,
SW17 0HL.

Mr M A Qureshi RIBA,
4 Vicarage Gardens,
CR4 3BL.
Date Received Complete: 10 October 2005
Application Case Officer: Mr A Taylor

There's no "Qureshi" listed as a member of RIBA. Check for yourself.

[The planning application was refused (pdf) btw]

Update 8.40pm. I've noticed three different spellings for this particluar organisation - Jameah Islameah, Jameah Islamiah and Jameah Islamiyah. It means "Islamic Community". Two other common spellings - Jemaah Islamiyah and Jemaah Islamiah - usually refer to the terrorists reponsible for the Bali bomb (as mentioned above by Garry Barker).

The local residents are being too kind. Do these muslims own the building? If not, they should get them evicted.

If they own the building, they should start legally harassing them to keep it up.

dfh -> we need to dig around and figure out how a bunch of islamonutters ended up buying that property - is it bought or rented?

and who in the council approved it?
does it get government grants?

As the Muslims in English Common Law countries have found out, you can cause other people a lot of misery and cost them huge amounts of money by using the legal system for purposes of sheer harrassment.

Time to get digging, boys and girls! If they don't own the building, who is the responsible council? I will email them telling them I want that part of our heritage kept up. Others can do the same.

100 years ago the property was a convent. The Church is losing property hand over fist due to dwindling congregations.
Muslims are acquiring properties due to probably near 100% support of Mosques.
If you don't use it you lose it.

I wonder how long ago it occured to M15 that it was a large building for 9 pupils.

Well,'s more of the same, isn't it.
What catastrophic event in The Septic Isle will be enough to nudge you out of your unbelievable apathy? Where even, for God's sake, is your anger?

Jamaa translates from Arabic as 'a group' or 'a gang' (as in "come over for a nice cup of tea and bring the jamaa with you"). Jammat al Islamiya (with all its variants) is Arabic for the Muslim Brotherhood.

Yeah. Those nine pupils are getting full use of this little property - or not, as the OFSTED report suggests.

I would love to know where the money came from to buy this pad.

clematis - then let's find out! It's on record somewhere!

Was the ground ever deconsecrated? Let's find that out too! If not, have foul, irreligious Muslim feet been allowed to walk on holy terrority in Britain? This is very important. Who allowed this? Is it actionable?

Keep the MSM apprised because they have their uses. Let's get going! What next?

Uses for discarded churches....carpet warehouses, leisure centres, islamic training camps. Churches & Convents don't run on thin air or divine intervention....if we want to keep these establishments we have to put our money where our mouths are.
People are always banging on how this is a Christian country.....there is more support for Islam than for Christianity.

People may well be banging on about how the UK is a Christian country but that does not necessarily mean they are correct.

As far as I know, New Labour has never run on a Christian manifesto; the national curriculum is overwhelmingly secular; and the courts and the legal system are not run along religious grounds.

But but...the fact that this institution used to a convent is by-the-by, although there are innumerable examples of how Islam has, over the centuries, acquired others' holy sites and claimed them as their own. This may be another one of Islam's 'acquisitions' - a bit like Jersualem (laughably claimed as a Muslim city) on a smaller scale.

'Jameah Islameah School' does not appear to be function effectively as a school (nine pupils?), nor does it serve any obvious community function.

So who is paying for its upkeep and what is going on there?

Who is paying for it's upkeep?
The increasing number of islamists who support the increasing number of mosques.
I know this country is not run on religious grounds...but as a country we've got to find a common ground on which to speak and speak with one voice.
I am becoming increasingly afraid of what is happening to my country.

it used to be a dance school then a girls catholic school then a muslim school, terror training camp then back to muslim school. it is no ordinary school, i get the bus past there and sometimes walk past it in school hours, no noise comes from it, no light, no movement. i know a girl who goes there, she is peaceful and says it is a good/nice school. nothing bad has happened there. people misjudge muslims these days. they are PEACEFUL. they are NOT terrorists, they are muslims who are living a happy life apart from being judged by everyone who walks past. i read these comments and most of them are by ignorant, selfish, racist , RACIST, sorry do i need to repeat myself, RACIST brainless big mouthed thugs who couldn't think or care less about our planet and different cultures. people do what they think is right, even if it seems wrong to others, but there is a right to this. the right is that they are actually a good, nicely done up school now that lots of people go to. I am especially ashamed of verity, a message to you verity, AT LEAST EVICT YOUR YOUR SELF BEFORE YOU HARASS AND EVICT THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you thugs need to have a mid of your own, stop being so racist!!!! just because some terrorists are 'muslims' doesn't mean that every muslim you see is bad!!!! THE SCHOOL HAS A LOT OF PUPILS NOW, THE GROUNDS ARE IIN VERY GOOD CONDITION, ONLY A FEW DAYS AGO MY FRIEND SHOWED ME AROUND THERE AND TOOK PICTURES.
