"Does the mainstream press ever wonder why conservatives distrust them so much?"

i disagree with that label.

its "anyone who favours western democracy over Islamofascism" that distrusts the MSM so much.

initially , it was "conservative" bloggers - now , its the broad church of anti-Islamism. things have moved on - the danish cartoons, for example, woke up an awful lot of centrists and left-wingers.

The 'conservative' monicker - used to describe bloggers who have questioned the veracity of the mainstream media's output - is deliberate.

Conservative = George Bush, the Zionist cabal, big business, etc. Conservatives have an 'agenda' and should not be trusted.

The word 'conservative', when used in this context, is an implied health warning.

I am not a conservative or a Conservative and I do chuckle when I am labelled thus because I happen to support Israel's right to defend itself or oppose Islamist thuggery.

The terrific irony in all of this is that Islam - as enacted through Sharia - is an ultra-conservative ideology, based on the shakiest of premises.

Surely those who oppose the spread of Islamist aggression and authoritarianism are the true radicals, the real liberals? :-)
