Practise what you preach, Bakri

In April 2004 a BBC documentary called Britain's Suicide Bombers showed Omar Bakri telling British Muslim audiences the following:
"Kill and be killed... Prepare as much as you can from strength and from force to terrorise - because terrorism it is part of Islam... Martyrdom is what you want. Do the effort. Clear your intention. Go forward, never look backwards. Make sure you have nothing left behind you to think about or cry for and fight in the name of Allah."
He's not so bold now:
EXILED preacher of hate Omar Bakri has begged the Royal Navy to rescue him from war-torn Beirut.

The Muslim cleric who fled Britain last year, tried to board a ship full of women and children yesterday but was turned away.

He also wrote to the British embassy asking to be allowed back on “humanitarian grounds”.

In an email to officials, dole scrounger Bakri pleaded: “The current situation in Beirut left me without any choice but to appeal to you to grant me a visit visa to see my children for one month.”

But his bid to sneak on one of our ships was blocked at harbour gates by sharp-eyed officials.

Charles Clarke, then Home Secretary, banned him from returning here.

The mad mullah, who hailed terrorists as “magnificent” martyrs, bought a £150,000 bolthole in the exclusive Doha district of Beirut.

In March he boasted: “When I left England I bought a one-way ticket out. I never want to see the place again.

But cowardly Bakri changed his tune as soon as bombs started dropping.

He contacted the British embassy asking to be allowed back to see the six children he deserted. Bakri said last night: “What concerns me is my safety. I’d be happy with a month’s visa but this morning they told me I couldn’t because I’m not a British citizen any more.
Tough shit, Omar!

There's a front line a few miles away - you'd think the least he could do is go and get himself blown to bits. After all, it's what he demands of other Muslims.

I tuned in to Five Live this morning and heard a long whining noise emanating from my radio - turned out it was the great warrior himself on the phone from Lebanon, wailing about the injustice of it all. Heh. I hope there's an Israeli shell with his name on.

(If the libertarians are organising a demo to demand he be allowed into the country, I’m busy that day.)

Update. 11am.From the interview on Radio Five Live, here’s Bakri arguing his case:
“I think on humanitarian grounds the British government can exercise now tolerance and show to the whole world that we are better than you.”
Tolerance! This from the man who said:
"We don't make a distinction between civilians and non-civilians, innocents and non-innocents. Only between Muslims and unbelievers. And the life of an unbeliever has no value. It has no sanctity."
Listen to Bakri demanding to be let back into Britain here (mp3, 140k).

Further update. 1.30pm. Via the comments at Blognor Regis, here’s Bakri in an interview with Arab daily Asharq Al-Awsat just 10 days ago:
Q) Do you think about going back to the United Kingdom?

A) No. I do not think about that unless Britain renounces its terror laws through which it is terrorizing Muslims under the pretext of fighting terrorism. It is religiously prohibited for people like me to return to the United Kingdom, because this would fall within the framework of offering oneself as captive. Islam prohibits Muslims from allowing themselves to become captives of nonbelievers.
We've done him a favour then.

Also from the Asharq Al-Awsat interview:
Q) Does the notion of "Londonstan" (sic) still exist?

A) I believe that one day honest Muslims in the United Kingdom will, God willing, turn it into "Islamistan," like what the first Muslims did in Eritrea and Indonesia. The great dream of Islam will come true. Muslims dream to see flags that read: "There is no god but Allah" fluttering in the wind on top of Big Ben and the House of Commons, God willing.
God willing Bakri's body parts will soon be fluttering in the wind following an Israeli strike.

Bang on cue.

'What to [sic] Muslims think of the bans?'

Who else? Yes, it's self-appointed spokesman for Britain's Muslims, Inayat Bunglawala, who doesn't work for Reuters News in Sweden and has never been to Sweden:

'Inayat Bunglawala of the Muslim Council of Britain, one of the main umbrella groups, said months of patient lobbying of ministers had paid off.

'"We have our disagreements with Hizb ut-Tahrir but we do not believe that banning the group would help - it would drive it underground," said Mr Bunglawala.

'"If you want to defeat an organisation, then you do it through open dialogue, through ideas. Banning political parties is the kind of action you would see in a Middle East dictatorship rather than a confident democracy like ours."

'Mr Bunglawala said that despite concerns over anti-terrorism laws, most Muslims would have little sympathy for Al Muhajiroun's offshoots.'

"We have our disagreements...but," says Inayat. Love it. Inayat may not openly threaten to cut the throats of the pigs who criticise him - he leaves that to proper jihadists - but he is a committed fellow-traveller.

Says: Inayat: "If you want to defeat an organisation, then you do it through open dialogue."

"So, Mr Imam. All this stuff about Jews being apes and pigs and stuff, and Infidels being excrement. I am not sure I agree entirely with you but, hey, let's talk about it."

Hu-T, like most Islamists, are no better than common-or-garden racist thugs, of course. Imagine Eugene Terreblanche or the KKK with a beard and a copy of the Koran and you're there. Supremacists to the core.

Bunglawala does not speak for anyone, does he not represent anyone but himself as his MCB controllers - why do the media always turn to this muppet? He is an ideologue, not a spokesman for a powerless group of people.

Incidentally, some background to Hu-T, plus its curious relationship with the MCB, can be found here.

Charles - the BBC uses a brainwashed Palestinian kid to try to brainwash ours. Tossers.

Clematis - I see Bunglawala has been attacking the new Sufi Muslim Council and its spokesman Haras Rafiq:

When contacted by Guardian Unlimited, the spokesman for the MCB, Inayat Bunglawala, claimed Mr Rafiq was an "unknown". "Who is he? Who does he represent? Let's wait and see just how many groups affiliate to his group, but at the moment it's obscure and unknown."

That's a bit bloody rich, isn't it? He's obvioulsy scared of the competition, but it looks as if his role as the go-to guy for Muslim opinion is safe with the likes of the BBC and the Guardian.

they should let him on the ship, then as soon as they are 5 miles from shore, tie his hands behind his back and pitch him overboard to join his virgins in Hell.

Thanks for the link, DfH.

'In a press release, the MCB accused Mr [Haras] Rafiq of being part of a "motley crew of discredited figures" wheeled out to support the "ludicrous arguments" of the programme. The journalist who presented the documentary, Martin Bright, was labelled an "Islamophobe" seeking to divide British Muslims.'

Heh's Bunglawala contra mundum.

(Sorry for posting slightly - well, completely - off-topic)

Re Bakri - I would prefer that he not be thrown overboard as fishy din-dins, although it's an option ... Personally I would prefer him to stay in Beirut and get both his legs blown off. The idea of a dead Bakri does have its appealing side, though.

Clematis Fraud mentioned Inyat Bunglawangla, "who does not work for Reuters and has never been to Sweden". Is this the same Inyat Bungalwangla who does not frequent gay disco Kudos at 74 Charing Cross Road and does not get pie-eyed?

Verity - no, the Inayat Bunglawala who frequents Kudos and can be seen sipping very Unislamic screw-drivers is not the same Inayat Bunglawala who doesn't work for Reuters News in Sweden. Allegedly.

Or a few dozen marked 'To whom it may concern' in the general area of the cowardly Mr Bakri - I'm not picky!

anonymous - I cannot say one way or another whether he's a friend of Dorothy's. All I am saying is, when Bingliwingli was threatening Charles at Little Green Footballs (via posts on his Contact form) that Charles, being an ace electronic detective, traced to Reuters in Sweden) someone who seemed to be in the know posted that Banglawangla was reputed to be an enthusiastic patron of Kudos. The threats to the site owner - anonymous, needless to say - were so persistent that Charles eventually contacted Scotland Yard.

If you go to LFG and key in the names above, you can follow the whole saga. It seems that al-Reuters in London does indeed have a Swedish ISP, so whoever was sending the threats from London thought he was undetectable. At the height of the drama, LGF was getting around 170 hits a day from al-Reuters.

That's all I know. What was said on LGF. Unsubstantiated.

What was also mentioned was, the Bangler-wangler seems to be curiously reluctant to discuss his academic qualifications for being a media spokesman.

But whoever was clicking on LGF from al-Reuters in London's Swedish ISP was one mighty worried little jihadi as he followed the developments, hitting the site over a hundred times a day, to follow the unintended result of his Islamic threats.

Omar: Hi Ali, listen mate, can you put me up for a few nights buddy?

Ali: Aaahhh Omar! You know...I missus. yeah, the missus..I'm having to paint the spare room.

Omar: please ali, mate!

Verity - I believe he claimed - on the Comment is Free site - that he would:

Inayat: "Hey, that was not me! Let the police deal with it. Methinks some Zionists are up to mischief."

Inayat: "I will certainly be referring this matter to the police in the morning."

I don't know if he confirmed that he actually did go to the police, however.

-Inayat: "Hey, that was not me! Let the police deal with it. Methinks some Zionists are up to mischief." -

This exchange was mentioned on LGF and its weirdness commented upon. Who, off the top of their head, would ascribe the remarks of someone else to "Zionists".

He made this remark after Charles had traced his ISP address. Charles then contacted the head of Reuters' London bureau and demanded that the person who had made the threats be exposed. Al-Reuters, ever the Muslim appeaser, wrote back and said the person who had made the threats had been suspended and reprimanded, but refused to confirm that it was Bunglawangla.

If you read the history on LGF, you will see how virulent and intemperate the threats were, which is why Charles, who is an excellent photographer, stopped publishing shots of his surroundings. He is one cool dude, but far from stupid.

Yes, Inayat seemed to take great pleasure in mocking his detractors' reluctance to reveal their identities, email addresses and whatnot. He probably enjoys the fact that so many people out there are fearful of Islamists and their violent ways.

While he is a fairly slippery, albeit camp, individual who specialises in taqiyah rather than violent jihad, I am sure there are plenty of bearded loons out there who would happily do their bit for the Ummah.

(Apologies again, DfH: still wildly off-topic)

Clematis Fraud - mocking other people who wouldn't reveal their email addresses ...while crouching behind an al-Reuters ISP domiciled in Sweden ...

And then, when Charles tracked him down because Charles is very clever and Ms Inayat is not, he went to ground. Reuters said the sender of the email was "not on our news team" - however reassuring that was meant to be. Anyway, they said they had suspended this person "pending enquiries".

Not for long, because the same ISP clicked onto Little Green Footballs hundreds of times over the following four or five days and scrolled down to that item. So frequently indeed that Charles - in his log of visitors - established a seperate category for Visits by Reuters.

It will be to no avail, however, that Reuters guarded the identity of this aggressive, hate-filled individual, because Charles was eventually persuaded that he should report this incident to Scotland Yard, who are presumably dealing with it.
