Nostradamus & the World Cup

According to this morning’s Breakfast show on BBC Radio Five Live, Nostradamus predicted Spain’s victory in the World Cup this year. Nicky Campbell quoted a quatrain reported in the Spanish press:
"At the end of the sixth month of 2006, the King of Spain will cross the Pyrenees with his army. The legions of Beelzebub await the battle on the central European plains. Destruction and defeat will fall on the evil-doers. The Holy Grail will be returned to Spain by the triumphant King."
I’ve just had a quick look on a searchable Nostradamus database and, as I expected, there’s no such verse. In fact there’s no mention of a grail at all. The nearest ‘prediciton’ I could find was this one:
Because of death France will take to making a journey,
Fleet by sea, marching over the Pyrenees Mountains,
Spain in trouble, military people marching:
Some of the greatest Ladies carried off to France
Hardly “Spain will win the World Cup” is it?

This is just another Nostradamus myth spread by gullible idiots on the internet and picked up by equally credulous fools in the MSM.

Heh. In any case, Spain was eliminated from the World Cup yesterday.

Nostradamus? And what Dan Brown (The Da Vinci Code’s author) is going to say about such interpretation of The Holy Grail? :)
