Will Goldsmith rescue Blair again?

Scotland on Sunday:
...if - as many beneficiaries of Blair's largesse in honours fear - the Crown Prosecution Service requests permission to give Des Smith, the man they are questioning over cash for peerages, immunity from prosecution in return for blowing the whistle on bigger fish, the decision will be made by Lord Goldsmith, the Attorney General. Since he is in the Cabinet and has already obliged the Prime Minister with a clean bill of health on the Iraq war, that will not inspire public confidence.
