MAC & the PCC

I see the Muslim Action Committee (MAC) is due to meet the Press Complaints Commission this week (“Allah willing”) to demand the following amendments to the PCC Code of Practice:
(Section 1, Accuracy, new clause)
i. The Press must take care not to publish reckless and malicious expressions insulting or desecrating anyone's creed or conscience, including pictures.

(Section 12, Discrimination, addition of 'insulting' in clause (i))
ii. The press must avoid prejudicial, insulting or pejorative reference to an individual's race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation or to any physical or mental illness or disability.
(Section 12, Discrimination, addition new clause (iii))

iii. The press must avoid any publication or reference leading to provocation, incitement to violence or hatred based upon an individual's race or religion.
Well, my creed calls for free expression, and I find attempts to curb my beliefs insulting and provocative. If the PCC accepts the above amendments I intend to use those amendments as the basis of a complaint against any newspaper that publishes them.

" to any physical or mental illness " - So is Islam to be classified as a mental illness? Winston Churchill said that Islam in a man is as dangerous as rabies in a dog.

Islam must not be shown the respect it craves. It must be shown the disgust it deserves.

I'd be more optimistic about that if just one British newspaper had actually published even one of the Mohammed cartoons.
