James Hipwell on the BBC

James Hipwell, who used his City Slicker column in the Daily Mirror to ramp shares and earn himself over £40,000 in the process, has just been on Radio Five Live to plug his prison diaries. You wouldn’t believe the injustice and hardship the poor man has had to endure in his six weeks behind bars (true to form he claimed it was two months). Nelson Mandela has nothing on him.

Good Friday must be a really bad day for BBC bookers if this self-pitying ex-con is the best they can do.

(Prior to sentencing, Hipwell’s solicitor claimed his client had a life-threatening kidney disease. What are the chances of an Ernest Saunders-like miraculous recovery now that he’s out?)
