Some calls may be taped...

I’m no fan of the Met's commissioner but if I had important dealings with close allies of Tony Blair I’d probably want to tape a few phone calls too. It’s quite funny in a way. As Shami Chakrabarti from Liberty says:
A government that has given the police a blank cheque, now finds themselves on the receiving end of the abuse of police powers.
The infringement of civil liberties is only meant to affect the proles, not friends of the prime minister. Sir Ian will probably have to resign, and then Charles Clarke Tony Blair will replace him with someone even more on-message and sympathetic to the government. Now there's a frightening thought.
